The Burns Family

Joey and Michelle grew up together in Peoria, AZ. After many years of Joey chasing Michelle, they were married in 1992. In 1994 they left the Burns family alfalfa and cotton farm and made the move to Ridgway, Colorado. Michelle was a high school teacher while Joey started his career in real estate. In 1996, they welcomed their first son, Brayden (married to Christa) followed by Brittany (married to Caleb), Bryce, and finally - with their grand entrance - came the twins, Luke and Landen (married to Emma). With 5 kids at home, Michelle used her teaching background and began homeschooling. With its flexible schedule, homeschooling became a lifestyle everyone enjoyed and it gave the opportunity to travel and spend more time together as a family. All of the kids have graduated from the Burns Homeschool Academy and moved on to college and beyond. These days, the family enjoys working together in the real estate world and sitting down for brunch on Sundays after church. In June of 2023, Brittany and Caleb welcomed the first grandchild, Breanne, who has become quite popular within the family.

At Samaritan Aviation, we know there are thousands in the province of East Sepik that do not have immediate access to life-saving medical care. With only one hospital in the region and the way to travel there is treacherous, those who desperately need medical attention are left vulnerable and exposed. We believe God’s love must be demonstrated through immediate and practical medical support. That’s why we have provided emergency flights, given much needed medication, and cared for over 500,000 people in this region of Papua New Guinea.
